Glenn Kaino: Bridge presents a monumental aerial sculpture comprising 200 golden casts of Tommie Smith's outstretched right arm, suspended from the ceiling of SAAM's Luce Foundation Center. Created through a decades-long collaboration between the Los Angeles-based conceptual artist and the 1968 Olympic medalist, the nearly 100-foot installation references Smith's iconic 1968 protest gesture. The work operates as a temporal bridge, exploring how individual acts of courage ripple through history and inspire social change.
