61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia by Koyo Kouoh

Michael Joo is a sculptor and installation artist whose practice investigates the materiality and agency of both organic and non-living forms. His work engages with concepts of growth, transformation, and the relationships between natural and constructed systems. Joo has a long history with major international exhibitions, representing South Korea at the Venice Biennale's national pavilion over two decades ago, and collaborating with curator Koyo Kouoh since their partnership at EVA International in 2014.

Michael Joo participates in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Koyo Kouoh. His mixed media installation, Neospheres Expended (Organic Growth, Crystal Reef), explores the agency of living and non-living materials through sculptural forms. Joo's contribution continues a decades-long artistic dialogue, appearing in the main exhibition at the Giardini and Arsenale venues across Venice.
