Davis creates paintings rooted in Los Angeles local history and community narratives. His work Pueblo del Rio: Prelude belongs to a series based on the Pueblo del Rio public housing project, designed by architects Richard Neutra and Paul Williams in 1941. Davis explores how art and performance function within low-income communities, centering the potential and dignity of residents.

About

California Light and Space (The 21st Century Version) gathers contemporary Los Angeles artists responding to the city's distinctive light, geography, and cultural landscape. Working across painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and installation, these artists engage with local histories, urban topographies, and the region's striking natural phenomena. The exhibition reimagines the legacy of 1960s Light and Space practice through works that probe Chavez Ravine, South Central signage, wildflower ecology, and the city's variable skies.
